“Our trip to Transylvania was filled with delightful surprises! Peter's itinerary was well thought out and the trip went very smoothly. We saw many palaces and castles - complete with tour guides that had deep knowledge of what we were seeing and made the information interesting and entertaining. Plus, we spent time with locals (friends of Peter) who shared their culture through traditional food, costumes, dances and music. The accommodations were varied - all clean, comfortable and interesting - from guest houses to modern hotels to hotels from the 1500's.
I would highly recommend this trip for anyone that would like to see beautiful Transylvania and learn about its people and culture. Peter is a knowledgable and accommodating guide and very fun to travel with! He made each of us feel taken care of and our curiosity satisfied.
Go see Transylvania!”

“Peter curated an amazing Transylvania experience, from the amazing history with castles and fortified churches, to fabulous meals and beverages. Most special for me was hearing his stories of growing up there, what life was like under Communism, and meeting some of his amazing friends! The people are kind, welcoming, and helpful.
The trip to the forest villages, with a traditional meal served by his friends in traditional garb, followed by the teens who danced, sang, and performed for us was one of a kind.
I can’t recommend Peter and Transylvania Unveiled enough for a great way to experience that part of Romania!”

“Romania shot to the top of our bucket list when we heard about Transylvania Unveiled. We are usually not the guided group type but to see a country through the eyes of a local is the best way to go. Peter was fabulous to plan with; taking great care to ensure the sights and activities were what WE wanted to see and do. His agenda is to meet the needs of the group in every way. His insights are invaluable and his connections made it a trip like no other. Private castle viewings. Check. Fabulous meals. Check. Wine tasting, archery lesson, local in-home meals, traditional costumes and dance, comfortable accommodations, cities to country to forests, to mountains, and back. Check. Peter is uniquely suited to show off his country and his passion to do so is clear! He’s organized, calm, fun, and a step ahead at all times. This trip was a treat in every way. It was incredibly nice to just show up and relax, truly enjoying every day knowing all the details were handled and we just got to soak it all in. Put yourself and some friends in Peters hands for a fabulous adventure in a lesser traveled region before it’s “discovered”. It’s on the cusp… Vogue Magazine voted it a top travel destination in 2025. We can see why!”

“Who knew!? Romania is by far today’s best-kept travel secret for those looking for deep history, living cultural experiences, gorgeous topography, kind, engaging people who share a great love of their homeland.
And wow, did we luck out with our Transylvania-Unveiled tour led by Romanian-born Peter Melincianu! Every detail was meticulously planned—with plenty of opportunity to engage with local folks, enjoy nature and explore off the beaten path spots.
Highlights included a tour of Cluj, private, highly engaging tours at Corvin Castle, Bran Castle, Queen Mary’s castle and private home, a range of fortified churches dating back to the 1100’s and other fascinating spots. Peter arranged private musical experiences at several locations which were delightful and culturally fascinating.
Most of all, Peter brings a unique combination of true heart, fastidious organization and deep personal knowledge to Transylvania-Unveiled. It was, perhaps, our best organized tour ever!!”

“We recently returned from a wonderful trip with Transylvania Unveiled, organized and guided by Peter Melincianu. Peter grew up in Transylvania before moving to the United States and raising a family for the past 25 years, and, lucky for us, he now wants to make trips back to his homeland and share Transylvania through small group tours (we had six in our group) with others.
We visited beautiful old cathedrals and castles and fortified churches, of course and even stayed at a guest house in the tiny town of Zalanpatak (population 90) owned by King Charles. But to me, Peter's personal connection with Transylvania is what makes his trips so special.
I especially enjoyed going to his hometown of Hunedoara, where we stopped to greet his mother and were introduced to childhood friends who managed to have the Corvin Castle opened after hours just for us, as were were serenaded with wonderful Transylvanian music while enjoying a Romanian wine tasting session.
Peter vividly remembers what life was like before the revolution in 1991 when Romania was ruled by Nicolae Ceausescu. He showed us where they stood in line with their coupons for their weekly ration of bread. He also showed us the apartment he lived in and how he came outside and whistled to get his girlfriend (and future wife) Laura’s attention, hoping she would hear him and look out her window. These personal touches made Transylvania come to life.
If you’re interested in exploring Transylvania, seeing its beauty and learning about it’s ancient, medieveal and recent history, I don’t thing you can beat the small tours that Peter and his wife, Laura are putting on through Transylvania Unveiled.”
